Reports reaching the FOCUS Newspaper revealed that a 27-year-old notorious criminal has been brutally murdered in Kakata City, Margibi County.
The lifeless body of Amaratu Marvey was seen early Tuesday, November 6, 2018 morning lying at the intersection of the road that connects Monrovia to Kakata which also borders the main entry of the famous Booker Washington Institute (BWI).
According to the Kakata Police Detachment, the late Marvey was arrested and incarcerated on Sunday, October 21, 2018 but later broke jailed.
Besides the last arrest made by the Police, Amaratu who’s on record of being arrested on several occasions for burglary, burglary was on several occasions arrested by police officers on allegations of burglary and other criminal offenses.
A recent police report reveals that in 2009 the late Amaratu was involved in a burglary on the accommodation of his former Chinese in-law who resided in New York-BWI where he stole a Laptop.
It added that in the same year (2009) Amartu Marvey was again arrested for burglarizing one of the offices at the Kakata Rural Teacher Training Institute (KRTTI) and made away with several pieces of Laptops.
According to the document, on March 22, 2017 Amartu along with some of his criminal collaborators attacked one Mark Gono of Matiala Community using dangerous weapons and took away his cash (money) while en route to Monrovia to purchase goods.
The document said of recent Amartu was released from the Kakata Central Prison (Carter High) where he spent more than one year and barely a day after his release he burglarized the home of one Charles Bracewell in Bassa Community where he stole a generator and fuel, but said items were retrieved.
The Chief Superintendent of Police in Margibi County, Sylvester Hina is quoted in the document as saying Amartu Marvey is very dangerous to the extent that he raised deadly weapons against police officers who attempted arresting him.
In 2015, the document said Amartu attempted stabbing Officer Redeemer Toe in his stomach with a knife when the officer tried to arrest him.
It explained that Amartu on the same occasion attempted to chop Officer Abraham S. Korto with a cutlass after the officer has gone to have him arrested.
Additionally, the report averred that the accused stabbed chief inspector Vayanga Konneh who is the Chief of Operations in his palm with a knife when he went to arrest him. In 2015, Amartu reportedly stabbed officer Michael B. Rogers with a knife and escaped the scene.
Prior to sending him to Court, the Kakata Police detachment of the Liberia National Police charged Marvey with multiple crimes ranging from armed robbery, robbery, theft of property and burglary respectively.
The deceased was then sent to jail awaiting Court trail but he reportedly escaped jail and went to Redlight where he was attacked thereby leaving him with a deep cut in his shoulder.
