“I Did Not Order Flogging of Anyone” …Lawmaker Dismisses Claims of Brutalizing Citizens in His District

By Jackson P. Foyofayiah

MONROVIA: Montserrado County District # 12 Representative George B. Samah has rubbished claims that he ordered the flogging of some of his constituents during the presentation of his annual report in late December.

He described the claims as a ‘demonic political strategy’ only created by oppositions within his district to dissuade citizens’ attention from the immense progress that has been made since he took over as Representative in 2018.

According to Representative Samah, there is no way he as a diplomat will order the flogging of another human being only because the person disagrees with him on political matters.

He wants members of the opposition community within his district to desist from indulging in ‘dangerous politicking’ which will not mean well for the growth and development of the constituency.

“I want to say thanks to you members of the press for taking up the time to ascertain the real truth as it relates to me ordering the flogging of my own citizens. This is what is required of the press,” Representative Samah told reporters at his Capitol Building office in Monrovia Tuesday, January 16, 2019.

“There are people who have been hired to tarnish the repetition of leaders. And so the case with me is no exception,” he added.

The Montserrado County lawmaker explained that the situation all started when individuals within the district threatened to create chaos where the annual report of the district was to be held and was disallow from entering the hall.

“They wanted to disturb the hall but were prevented due to measures we put in place. Some of them even went to my home to disturb and I was informed about their actions. This is very sad for our district. People should stop seeing themselves as stooges for other people,” he averred.
