Liberian businessman, the owner of Bella Cassa Hotel, Amin Modad, was on Tuesday, September 8, 2020, elected as the new Chairman of the major opposition Unity Party in a mini-convention. Mr Modad defeated in a faceoff for the position of chairmanship, Mr George Gyude Wisner, Conmany B. Wesseh and other. Out of 54 delegates, Mr Modad in commanding lead won his rivals with 34 votes.
On the other hand, Mo Ali, former Secretary-General of the Council of Patriots, won the Secretary-General position of the Unity Party. Mr Ali won with 24 votes followed by Amos Tweh with 17 votes and Jaye Kabbah Kollie 6 votes.
Meanwhile, Unity Party former senatorial candidate in the Grand Cape Mount County by-election won the position of Senior Vice-Chairman against Lafayette Giddings.
